Dit Da Jow - great for bad bruises
I trained in Kung Fu for a number of years when I was younger and I used Dit Da Jow to quickly heal bruises, swelling and sprains. It's a herbal tonic (traditional chinese herbal medicine) that you apply topically to the bruise. I recently used it on a bruised rib I got during my first trip snowboarding (after an epic scorpion) and it had things feeling better in less than a week. As many of you know, bruised ribs suck and usually take a good 2 - 3 weeks or longer to heal. The stuff is magical -- it really works wonders on healing bruises and other types of wounds from blunt force trauma. Just don't use it on an open wound or cut.

WARNING: It has a really strong odor. It is also usually very watery (liquid vs gel or cream). You need to massage it in to the area of the bruise and apply it with enough friction to warm up the area so it absorbs into the skin. There are a number of different "family formulas" and you need to make sure you get it directly from someone that knows chinese herbal medicine or from a reputable online source.

If you ever have a bad bruise (especially with purple / green coloration of the skin) you will be amazed at how quickly the bruise heals and turns to a simple pink mark. I believe the Dit Da Jow helps improve the blood flow and circulation at the site of the bruise.

For what it's worth, I do not make or sell Dit Da Jow -- I just thought I'd share this as a possible treatment for bad bruises.

Here are two online sites that I've ordered from (I no longer have a local source since I haven't trained in Kung Fu for over 10 years). Both sites sell a quality product. The links below go directly to the formula I use:
PlumDragon Herbs
Shen Martial Arts - Mike Biggie's Ho Family Dit Da Jow - 4 oz bottle

Anyhow, give it a shot and let me know if you have any questions. Hopefully this will help another new boarder recover from bad bruises quickly and get back out on the slopes.

+1 this stuff is magic!!

my dad got some from a friend he was working with at the time a few years ago and it did wonders on my injuries from basketball and rugby. very strong smell though, clears the nose out well!!

No doubt -- clears out the nose and the entire room. Would make a good dirtbag cologne.

Glad someone else has used it and can speak to how good it works. Shit stinks…but works like magic. I'll take healing quickly over smelling good any day of the week. Just put on some extra old spice while you're using it.
