Default First Season Ender

We've all got one... Post your war stories and pics. Why Don't I start with my first and only Season ending Injury.

Background Time!
I recently took a job at Mammoth Mountain working as a lifty. I'm an Ice Coast Kid that rode Mountain Creek and Camelback for 11 years. My 12th season I decided to go big and head west for some real snow. I had 150 days of on snow fun and now I'm back In NJ this summer for Surgery and PT.

Now on to my first season ender.

It was the day after winter layoffs Apr 21st. A blower day on the hill, visibility was shit snow was shittier... Dust on Crust. Me and the dudes decided to quit early and head back to the house to day drink and relax in the tub. After a few PBR's I decided to take the 1/2 mile downhill ride to grab some more beer and snacks on my Penny board. I was a little hopped up on liquid courage and decided to point it downhill. Not a good idea. Speed wobbles at 30MPH, a car behind and on coming traffic. There was no grass to be seen and I was losing it fast. I managed to get towards the curb and tried to bail onto the sidewalk. my cross eyed eyes mistook the curb for a handicap ramp and I wound up flying through the air about 10 feet. I flew far enough to slam into a speed limit sign and bend it completely to the ground. 10 minutes later when I finally came too I was in a random dudes car (later known to be my good buddy John) being driven to the hospital. 6 x-rays and 2 percocets later I found out I had a level 5 (of 6) AC separation (Acromioclavicular joint separation). Oh and 4 Broken ribs... just to add to the fun. Flew back to NJ two days later to get surgery with the AMAZING Dr. Foos from Professional Orthopedics center in Tinton Falls NJ. 2 months of Bed rest and 3 months of Physical Therapy was prescribed. The 2 months of bed rest were a nightmare and the first month of PT was painful. I'm currently 2 months away from being 100% and will be road tripping back to Mammoth for season number 13.

Well there ya have it. What's your First season ender story?

This was in 2004 or 2005.
The first jump I did, I had a hockey helmet with goalie shield on.
This is my second jump.

That's what I looked like at the beginning of the day.

Now later that day

If whatever doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger.

Then I am so close to immortality
