Well it was a while ago but figured I'd write about it being fairly new to the forum!
![]() Was on my first snowboarding holiday in Borovetz, Bulgaria after 2 months worth of lessons etc was just getting the hang of the steeper slopes compared to the gentle indoor slopes here in the UK. Early Wednesday morning, half way through my holiday coming down a red run and there was a green coming across it, which left about a 2ft drop onto the green. Being fairly new to the sport I didn't know how to deal with it so tried to just slow down on the heel edge but didn't stop in time, fell down it and landed HARD on my ass! Luckily I had some Demon crash pants on but my back cracked, I was winded and just quickly shuffled to the side of the slope before getting taken out by anyone, and sat there for a good 20mins just catching my breathe back. Felt pretty sick too! ![]() So took a break for a while but it had destroyed my confidence for the next 2 days, and hurt like hell to fall on for the rest of the week. Luckily I was on holiday with a group of 4 phyiso-therapists so got them to check me out, they said I'd pulled some muscles in my shoulders. but 2 months later it's stil giving me a bit of grief when I pull in certain directions. Although I have to really move in an odd way now, so it's healing. I visited the Doctor in the UK a week after I got back who confirmed what my phyiso's had said but they said it may take some time to heal. May be I'm just a wimp, but having never had a serious injury this was quite a shock! As close as I'd like to come for a while I think! ![]() Probably the worst injury on here but thought I'd share! I'm glad I had my crash pants on otherwise hate to think what would have happened to my coccyx! Still hasn't put me off anyway! I still love this sport! I'll just try stay upright from now on! haha Rob |

It's worth taking a short break after a really bad fall. It can take up to 48 hours for an injury to fully show up. This last season I fell pretty hard on a big jump, it felt like the wind got knocked out of me really bad. The next day I felt perfectly fine, went out boarding again all day (no jumps though!). That night I woke up in the middle of the night, could hardly breath ... I had a broken rib, and it was jabbing into my lungs

Yea I probably should have sat the day out but it was only my first run that day! My back was throbbing for hours, sat on the chair lift I was almost in tears!
![]() I really took it easy the rest of that day though, although think if it happens on my next holiday I'll probably sit it out! Still least I was ok the next day apart from the pulled muscles in my shoulders! And glad I could enjoy the rest of my holiday! Fingers crossed I don't fall like that again any time soon though! |

Similar injury 2 years ago when I started. Except I didn't have crash pads for my butt.
I was done after a few more hours, hurt about 2-3 weeks. Tail bone shot is not fun. -Slyder

. I had crash pants, but they're the crappy Pro-Tec padded pants (which I've complained about in other threads) and they're pretty useless. I think if you're going to get crash-pants, make sure the pads have a hard shell layer.
