Spinal fractures above the Lumbar carry a huge risk of paralysis. Herniated discs can cause paralysis, but it's rare. Pain is treatable, paralysis isn't. I don't want either, but forced to choose between the two, I wouldn't gamble with a fracture (especially Sabatoa's burst type) in the C or T regions. I'll take the lumbar hernia.
