The stolen snowboard review
This is a review of the Flow Quantum and Flow NXT ATSE bindings.
Location: Victor Constant Ski Slope, Unites States Military Academy, West Point.
Conditions: Sunny, Spring Slush.
I was rather optimistic going out. I had spent an hour setting up the bindings just right and the whole setup was astonishingly light. I get to the hill and I stomp my front foot in and everything is ok. I have mucho trouble stomping my other foot in, but after a few adjustments I got it in(i found the problem to be my pants were getting caught in the strap, which messed up the sliding). All I can say is WOW. The response I felt right from that point already was ridiculous. Mind you I have only seen a broad spectrum of rental equipment, but it was a dream come true. I tried some static buttering, a little bit of popping off and dear g-d does the Quantum have pop. It is rather stiff as park board so full scale butters were a bit difficult, but just spinning was no problem. I got on the lift and rode up. I got to the top and again I was having trouble with my back binding. My guess is I just got lucky with my front foot, as after a few more runs I got the back binding a ok. Now onto downhill performance. first I have to tallk about the pop again. It just wanted to ollie and fly. Little bumps and rollers and other natural doodads would urge the Quantum up of the ground, it just had to snap itself in the air and it was almost too easy. The sidecut and the rigidity actually made it pleasant to ride at speed, something I am sure other park boards struggle with. I really could not tell the difference, except for that carves were a lot tighter and lower speeds. However when maintaining a path directly down the fall line, high speed was easily manageable. West Point has a couple rails and a few smallllllll kickers. Rails were fine, nothing special, no edge catching. And going off kickers was like being Scotty Lago himself, I am telling you, more pop than orville redenbacher. So right after the run where I finally got my bindings dialed in I went in to get a quick drink and wait for a buddy who had a screwdriver (binding was TINY bit loose) 5-10 mins later I see him, get the screwdriver and run over to where my board WAS. The board that I had received at the beginning of this week. My first board ever! My first time riding said board! The bindings that I had fallen in love with. With 3 more hours left to ride. My board was gone. Stolen off a MILITARY INSTALLATION!!! Those items retail for a lot, it cost me a pretty penny to get them. I put so much effort and research into getting the money and making sure those were the things I wanted. Taken, and all I get for it is a statement taken by some MP.
When I finally save up again, my purchase is including a lock. My first time ever riding my first board in the first half of the day. G-d wants me to buy a lock.
P.S. The whiskey royale tech in the quantum is nice. Landings are like it didn't even happen
