We just finished installing his roof rack and snowboard holder.
VW sure makes a kick ass product, this thing puts Thule & Yakima to shame.
It even slides over to load the boards....
Very strong chance we'll be on the slopes next weekend. Manmade but riding non the less !!!
Ah Ha! I knew that was a VW... the little extra mirror threw me off though.
I bought a Yakima set just because I assumed the VW ones were crap... should have done my research! It looks like it fits much more cleanly on the top, including the appropriate pads for that little lip.
If you can sell that rack and get the OEM one you won't be disappointed. It even came with it's own locking torque wrench. Instead of keys the base use's locking lug nut type wrench that has a torque meter built in to 6Nm so you tighten it to the proper specs. When the arrows line up you are at 6Nm
Look under front door it has a small plug, the rail has a male pin that fits into that and the rear glass has factory marks etched in to show proper placement of the rear feet.
This was so much LESS work to install than my Yakima rack. Not pictured is the Thule air deflector that fits like a glove.
Not sure if he will use that feature but it is nice. There is a lever inside the closure, you move it and it allows you to slide it out and locks the top from closing so you can not drive off with it off the side or in the pulled out mode. Another great safety feature designed into the rack.
Oh man that is dope! I need one of those for real.
