Competitions for Kids...???

Can someone help me with info, preferably someone who has a competing kid, in what the best way to go for competing in the USA...

My Stepson is currently 8, and i am thinking that maybe not next year but the year after, we want to try and fly to america for a couple of weeks and compete in a couple of competitions...

What do i need to know, web sites for registration info etc, costs for what i need, where the best comps are etc...

We will have some backing from the school he attends for costs, and we have some sponsorship that may extend to travel for some costs as well, but need to try and work out what it will all be and if it will have an advantage to Seb.

We are realistic in knowing that the chances of him winning are very slim, and we have some hard work ahead of us, but we think it will benefit him and he wants to try and do some over there.

Any help would be appreciated, and any info will be greatly received.

For his age, USASA is probably the best. If you can, do Rocky mountain division, it's one of the LEAST stacked divisions.
Fixed that for you.

Unless he's doing Rev tour, Grand Prix, FIS events, Burton open qualifiers/Open series, Dewsh tour, or Energy drink wars I mean X games don't bother coming. Save the money on coming over to compete and bring him over just to hit a big park and experience the U.S.

The Legendary looks interesting, but i think at 10 he would be a little young for the juniors...

I have looked at the USASA page, but didn't manage to find what the age limits are, and as a travelling competitor whether he would need to register there as he is registered already over here in Norway, i am guessing he would, but it is all very confusing...

The idea was to get 10-14 days of snow, with a couple of comps thrown in just so he can experience what it is like, we are realistic with where he will come, but think the taking part would be invaluable...

If he could get halfway down the field i would be happy as he is still learning and needs some experience of competition at that age.

It would be a holiday 1st and foremost, and comps would be secondary for us, but still worth considering if we are gonna spend so much money on a trip from Norway i think...

As i have said, it is a fair time away, being 2 years till he is 10, so not this or next season, but knowing absolutely NOTHING about how things work over there, i do not know where to start... ;)

Anyway, thanks for the replies, will look more after this season, gonna get as much snow as we can, and see where it takes us.

If we do decide we are gonna come over then will ask nearer the time for more accurate information and maybe a little help with trying to understand it.

But again, thanks to those who have replied... ;)
