crash / fall / injury

Hey guys,

Thought we could start a thread about some pretty bad crash experiences
Soooo any bad injuries out there?
I know someone who wasn’t wearing a helmet and had a bad crash on his first time and lost his memory for a little bit

I took a spill a few years ago... I was basically ripping down a run at Wyndham and I got cut off by a very poor skier and their tribe of children in an effort to avoid killing the kids I cut sharply, caught an edge and then proceeded to end over end for about 150ft. I severely dislocated my shoulder and put me out of commision for the rest of that season and it was actually about 2.5yrs before I got on a snowboard again. To this day my shoulder still hurts when working out or falling on it.

I think it was 2 yrs ago I caught a heel edge and launched myself ~ 40'. I landed on my hip, then should and slammed the back of my head. I was wearing a helmet. Good thing. I hit pretty hard. The surface was basically ice, typical east coast mountain surface. I preceded to drink lots of alcohol in the lodge. By the time I got up I had to use ski poles to walk to the car. I guess I didn't drink enough.

dude replied with this and made me think:

I hate these threads because they can be used against you later. There are lots of stories of insurance companies fishing on message boards so that they can bust customers and not pay them. You see this alot on motorcycle message boards. When this is someones first post, and their profile hasn't been filled out.......it sends of warning bells to me.

Yeah, I noticed that. I've seen this before too. Some shady insurance companies definitely try to prove things with these posts. I checked some things on this users pro and nothing indicates that this person is part of the insurance idustry. Still, it is something to be wary of.

I belong to a Mazda forum also as another one of my hobbies was/is modifying cars... in any case a guy on their blew up his engine due to extensive modification but then returned the car to stock form and tried to have Mazda cover the engine under warranty. The lawyers representing Mazda went and searched the forum for his posts talking about all the modifications and exactly what happened to his car and why. Needless to say he lost his case
