Default scam? anyone try this

on a recent ski club trip heard a freshman who thought he was cool talking about his new bindings he got 09 burton missions WTF color. he was saying that since burton has a lifetime basically no questions asked warrenty on their baseplates he was saying how he wants to "break" a baseplate, strap, or highback and say that he got a different color so it would be a mismatch. am i just crazy or is this really stupid and wrong?

Yeah but what if he sent a baseplate? Would he be able to get any color he wants I think that's somewhat of a scam or do they ask for the baseplate first until they send a new one out

This thread is incomplete. We need a pic of this kid and one of you, so we can decide who should be laughing at who.

that is pretty stupid, just so they mismatch. Most binding companys have a limited edition set that will come mismatched, I think even burton does, at least they did last year.

No I know it's stupid but basically the thing i'm wondering is are companies warrantys so good and so "no questions asked" that someone could purposly break a baseplate or part covered by lifetime warranty and get a brand new one? I myself have never used any warranty for snowboarding stuff but how willing are companies to just give out replacements?

either way does it really matter i mean if its a claim on a warranty piece what does it matter if the send you a black one or a white one they still have to send you one so i would say its not a scam. matter of fact you could probably tell them hey send me such and such color and they would.

The "scam" is trying to get one in a different color then the original.
