Kinda curious. My folks say i have a problem. Been at this a little over a month.. and honestly out of that entire period I may have had a week total where i wasn't boarding somewhere.
By the end of the season.. how far had you progressed? Season passes are a wonderful thing (so is having a hill ~30 mins from you) |

Last season was my first. Between Dec 30 and April 20 I rode 23 times. Not bad, right? This year I'm destroying that though. I've got five days so far, and plan on riding at least once every weekend (hopefully once through the week) and I've got a week-long snowjourn planned for the interior. Woot!

I was lucky, my parents were hardcore and would go Skiing every saturday/sunday from mid November to late April. This was habit for the whole family from when I was 4, to when I was 11 and learned to snowboard up until I was 16. So i rode A LOT my first year boarding.
Luckily for me I picked it up really fast because of Skiing since I could walk on my own and learning to skateboard. By the end of my first season I was a regular ripper |

Started the day of the superbowl 2008. Bought season pass and went two - three times per week until March 20th or so. Could link turns well on all hills up to single black(most advanced in my area, drop is only 240ft), nail small jumps and some 180/360/grab tricks in the air. Easier slopestyle stuff.
Been riding 1-2 times per week soon to be 3+(ski patrol or race lessons or something) since early december 2008. Weather was foul a couple week(ends) 66 and rainy, no thanks. Improvements this year so far: Learning to ride switch, landing the monster jumps no tricks other the a grab(sometimes unintentional), riding/carving on my edges greatly improved, very little sideslipping, learning to go through the gates for racing(race clinic sounds more up my alley than tricks). Ultimate goals this year. Enter one race(casual or competition) and nail one very easy trick in a big air competition. You don't have a problem. Last edited by pyro13g; 01-19-2009 at 01:38 PM. |

My GF think's I have a problem..so far I have about 10 days' since Thanksgiving weekend. I plan to ride every other weekend if not every weekend. You can't progress sitting at home watching Fuel TV or Law and Order.
Now that most resorts are fully open I'm gonna try to ride my ass off. |

Bought my first season pass last Tuesday. I'm trying to go at least every Tuesday and every Thursday that I can too (which will be most). The only other snowboarding I really did before that was go up about 3-4 years ago about 3 times in 2 seasons. I love how I can pretty much see myself progressing every time I go up.

2007-2008 was my first full season (started in Feb. 2007). I went 7 times in early 07, maybe 13 times in 07-08 (nearest mountain is 3 hours away and it's hard to find tour companies that book 2-day trips for 1 person). By the end of last season, I could get down blacks going switch (Japanese blacks are probably tame compared to the US though), ride in the trees (if not too steep), ride powder, dynamic carving, a bit of switch carving, jumps up to 10m, 180s off smaller kickers, and nearly landed a 360.
HouseMuzik, you don't have a problem... you're lucky you can get out that often !

I would ride a lot more but my mountain is an hour and a half away with no traffic, 2 or more with traffic..
So i usually either have to take the day off work to go up, or leave early on the weekends to get there before the giant rush that happens 20 mins before the lifts start. My first real season where i had a pass i got up about 12 times..already been up 6 or 7 this season but the weathers been so shitty i havent bothered the last week or two.. Mostly green/blue runs, black runs out here on Hood are pretty damn steep. I am sure i could leaf my way down but definately no bombing those things...even some of the green runs out here at Meadows are kinda steep(Daisy bowl area right now)
