Hey guys/gals,

First time poster here but I have lurked on and off for a number of years. I've been boarding for 16 years and am a Level 1 Snowboard instructor.

I am going to be launching a snowboard product and startup company in the next few months and plan to have the product in stores next fall.

I can't say much about it at this point due to the patent not being finalized but I think it is a very cool product and I think you will to.

What I need some help with is my Brand Name that will appeal to snowboarders of all ages and sexes. I have a logo that I like and plan to use but having trouble with the other half of the equation. We plan to release soft goods with our brand once the new product is established so I need a name/logo that YOU guys/gals would want to wear on a hat, hoodie, beanie, T-shirt etc.

Here are my frontrunners for our Brand name. I would really appreciate it if you could vote for the one you like and maybe leave a comment/suggestion on how to make it better.

If you don't like either one than I would really like any suggestions you might have.

OPTION 1

The idea behind this is: To someone who doesn't snowboard/ski a snow covered windswept mountain is a Wasteland. However, to those of us who love this sport, that is where we want to be. Industries can be swapped out for Boardwear, Unlimited, whatever.

OPTION 2

The idea behind this is: I don't really have a hook built into this name other than water of the frozen variety is pretty damn important to snowboarding =)

H20 Unlimited is also high on my list instead of industries.

Keep in mind that I am a photoshop hack and the end result logo will be designed by a professional. Main feedback I need is on the name and the snowflake logo.

OPTION 3

Both your ideas suck bro. THIS is what you should do...

We will be rolling out a Kickstarter campaign later this year to help raise both funding and awareness of our new product.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I just trademarked both names, now you can buy the trademark from me but I'll only charge you double as a forum member discount. But no really, a public poll on what to name a brand is a terrible idea. And if you have to explain the reason behind the concept then the concept fails.

what are those images? and why are you asking here?

i've been involved in branding several startups over the years. please do some actual research. please understand the process of creating a brand that works. and if you're still set on going forward... please hire a professional designer.

both names feel like they are trying too hard. why don't you go with something more personal. burton was named after the founder, never summer was after some mountains, etc. also does anyone else see a similarity to venture snowboards on the blue snowflake?

You're a lurker on the forum and you still didn't do the intro video? Come on man, you should know the forum rips into people when they post this survey/question bs on their first post without an intro video.

Honestly all of this branding/name stuff doesn't really matter anyway (although I wouldn't be surprised if both your names are already trademarked). Your product is what matters, and even a mediocre name like 'wasteland industries' is fine if your product is amazing and useful.

I suppose a name that has to do with whatever 'cool' product you create would make sense, but you haven't told us jack about your secret product, so how can anyone even help you with the name besides shouting generic snowboard names at you.

Only reason I am posting is because I like your UserName...

You haven't given us any concepts on your technology. So patent that, then come back to us... a name is just a name till you brand it with many peripherals co-marketing your brand/name.

And, yes, your design skills are not too impressive of the images you posted. PM me if this is legit... I do Marketing, and what I will tell you first, is the idea and the name are just step... a baby step.

And, by the way, H20 I would stray from... WasteLand should have a creative garbage can of some sort, but still, we know nothing from what you have given us.

(This is the wrong forum for all this, don't even know why I am posting this, when I'm just hoping the NorthEast gets more snow than just an inch or 2 with this wkns storm dusting.)
