I found myself snowboarding much smoother and faster without listening to my music/radio. I guess when you stop listening to other sounds, you start listening to your own body, the mountain and your own rhythm of snowboarding...

i hate boarding with music... its like playing ping pong with your ears plugged; you cant hear the bounce of the ball which throws off your coordination. same goes with carving; i like to hear the epic sound of shredding snow!!

Years ago I used to ride with music. Now doubt, it can send an adrenaline surge and get you pumped, but for riding at full tilt boogie, it drowns out subtle cues that keep you alive. And on a small mountain, constantly messing with electronics start/stop/skip was a real pain. I haven't ridden with music in at least a decade now.

I ride a lot better without music, but I usually listen to it anyway. Sometimes it kinda puts me in a groove that I think might help, but usually it just drowns out sounds that would let me pick up on the terrain around me. When I'm on a hill that is a little more technical or doing some tight lines through the woods, I'll turn it off. I've kinda been thinking about ditching the ipod all together when riding...
