Default Hoping for snow and cold at 7springs

Brought my budding boarders to 7springs for one more weekend this season. Almost 60 degrees today but maybe snow and cold later this weekend. I'm going to take one more lesson before I try to do a run with my 10 year old.

do tell how you made out. I'm new to snowboarding. Only ski but going to try the feets strapped into a board soon if the weather holds out.

The rest of the fam won't be here for an hour our so. It's a drag driving up here from the beach when you hit rush hour in Baltimore and DC. I asked some regulars about the conditions today. They said morning was awesome. Afternoon totally wet and slushy. I suspect the slopes will be similar tomorrow so we better get up early.

I'm a Seven Springs season pass holder. Have vacation property down on the Outer Banks. Drove from the beach this pass Monday. Hit Seven Springs Tuesday now I'm at JayPeak. Enjoy your stay and keep on progressing with your snowboarding it does take time.

Conditions are better today. The parents decided to skip yesterday and enjoy the time the boys were out with the instructors. Today I think we will head out after lunch so we can ride with the boys at 3 when their lessons are over. So proud of both boys yesterday. My 10 year old was riding rails all day for practice and my younger son (who just started riding in January and has been on the board a total of 3 days now) has progressed to a level 5 already. I definitely have very cool kids. They will be ready for High Cascade this summer.

Well I rode the lift and made several runs down the green trails. It was a little frustrating because I am very comfortable on heel side but not so much on toe side. I think I need another lesson to help with linking turns. My 8 year old told me that I was stuck in parallel and that is bad. Since my first time on a board was at the age of 43 I don't think I am doing too terribly bad, but the kids are picking on me a little. I'm just glad I can actually ride the lift with them and hold my own.

Heading up bright and early tomorrow morning. I'm hoping they got atleast 6 inches last night and the glades on north side will be ride-worthy again.

Yes ironically the morning we left was beautiful with fresh powder and not too cold either. My son really wanted to stay another day and I would have preferred this also since I enjoy snowboarding in the fresh snow more than driving in it. I think many were headed to 7 Springs yesterday because of the lucky snow. Hope everyone who was able to get out there enjoyed.

Now that we have probably finished our season, I have to update the boys' skill levels for High Cascade. 10 year old spent most of the weekend working in the park riding rails which was good practice for him. He did not progress a level however, because I think moguls is next and he hasn't tried that yet. 8 year old has moved from level 1 to level 6 in just 4 days on snow. I have him in soft start at HC but I think he might be ready to move up now. older one bet him he could not ride a box so of course he took the challenge. His instructor says he is now up to riding blue terrain with confidence. Very proud of these boys. Maybe they can coach me to be able to link turns. Problem now is that if they really want to work on new skills (especially older one) they need more specialized coaching I think which may be hard to get at 7Springs Jr Snowsports. They last 2 times he has been there he basically had more of a riding buddy than a coach. Any thoughts?
