Default Stoked for my 8 yr. old!

My family and I took our last trip of the year (maybe) this past weekend to Snowshoe WV for a long 4 day weekend. We arrived Wed. night with 3 full days of riding ahead of us. I have been reading a lot of informative post and tips on here about riding, which have not only helped me with my riding style, but also helped me pass it on to my son.
Up until this past weekend, Tanner has pretty much been heel sliding down the slopes. Pointing on foot or the other straight down the hill until the speed started to scare him and then putting on the brakes. So we made a deal that first morning that we were going to work on his toe side turns. As I expected, he busted it a couple of times and didn't want to try anymore. But I convinced him to keep going, and we would talk about it on the lift while watching other riders come down the hill. He kept a positive attitude and slowly but surely, by the end of the day he was linking some turns. After pumping him up in front of Mom and his older brothers that night, he hit the slopes the next morning on fire! I could not believe how much he improved this weekend. I usually take the lead, and have to stop or slow down to let him catch up. But by the end of our trip I was following him down and he was moving! We both have more to work on, but he has a new love for riding now and I am looking forward to next season. Thanks guys.

That's awesome! Nothing like the way it feels when you start progressing and even more exciting when one of your kids has a breakthrough! I will never forget the day when I first figured out how to link some turns...

You'll probably never keep up with him again!
enjoy it though, that's where I was hoping my kids would be by the end of this season.

Pirt near here!

well done tannersdad, it is a balancing act between keeping em progressing and stoked, and over it, tired and demoralized

taught my son this past weekend too, slightly different in that he's 17 and been a skier since he could walk. big stoke and some great bonding time up there, getting it in befor he leaves the nest
