i tend to agree with this.

i won't buy burton boards on principle because we had a perfectly good baseplate standard which everybody used and they tried changing it to a specific system to try to force burton boarders to only use burton bindings.

i have ridden a custom x and it was a great stick. i have never ridden their bindings but, to me, the look and feel really cheap.

Is it just me or is Burton turning into the Nike of skateboarding.

Iím actually not all that impressed with Burton, but for use reasons. I have the Custom bindings, which sucked, and demoíd the Cartels 3 different times and canít stand those. Toe caps that never go right (even with their own boots!) and uncomfortable compared to my Flows.

Also, I have a Deuce that has been a ton of fun, but the bolt holes on the front foot are pressing though after hundreds of landings, not all of them stomped.

If it was a more durable board, Iíd go with them again, but it just wasnít, I only have about 30 days in this season, and Iím just hoping this board lasts to May.

I love their boots, though. Fit my feet great.

that doesnt even make sense. burton created it all, nike hopped in skateboarding 30 years late, signed a few big names, and started pumping out great shoes. burton started making snowboards, they kept making snowboards, and now they still make snowboards.

nike snowboarding is about to be the nike of skateboarding. they did the same thing they did with skateboarding, signed big names, made sick boots, and they are going to be big in a few years now..

Nike makes skateboarding shit now? Damn what don't they make these days.

About burton's stuff, I'm in love with their boots, Iono what it is I guess they just fit my feet perfectly. Their boards are ok I guess, my twin's top sheet cracked in the middle which probably means that the core is going to crack soon. I'm going to email them soon about and see what happens.

Mainstream isn't always bad you know. This means more people will get to see what snowboarding is, and not call it skiing. It will also open the door to other people who never thought they would snowboard. As for my experience with Burton I can't say anything bad about it, my first board was a Blunt with Custom binding's never broke in fact I just gave it away to a co-worker. I've ridden Cartel's with no issue's. I've had more problems with the beloved Mervin boards (GNU) my first deck was defected and the replacement cracked. The only bad thing I would say about Burton is that they're expensive, nothing Wal-martish about that.

Had a Burton Indie...loved it...lost it in a fire.
Had a Burton Custom...loved it...got stolen.

Now I ride an old K-2...gets me around fine but doesn't feel the same.

Tried Burton's 2-zone boots. Wasn't crazy about them so I brought them back when I fixed the cable on my K-2's boa.

I know Burton makes some great stuff. I believe other companies do too, it's just hard to find an opportunity to try their stuff out...so I'm tempted to just go with the brand name I know. (Yeah, Jake's got my number!)

i hear everyone saying when you buy custom you pay way more for it then something else with the same quality, but when i was searching for my board last year i got my brand new 08 custom for $199. that was the best deal i could find on any of the boards i was looking at. burton stuff isnt always the most expensive.

i used to ride a burton custom i got used from a dude I went to school with. Got rid of it and rode a Lamar Diablo for a while that was too short (but I could throw it around like nothing) I am riding a GNU 09 Riders Choice now and LOVE the board.. I am a HUGE fan of the LIB Tech stuff even though it is sometimes pricey as hell too.

Ive ridden burton and other companies, for outerwear, I will never wear anything but Sessions. I have yet to get wet in two seasons of more than 60 days of riding each. Burton is ok but compared to sessions it doesnt last, I stood in a group of friends three of which wore only burton and I wore my sessions trifecta jacket and gridlock pants. It was just above freezing and raining. Their clothes were soaked and mine repelled water, no absorbtion at all. For hardgoods especially bindings I havent been too impressed with recent burton goods. a few years ago I would have ridden a burton before anything else, I still have an old Burton Brushi and Burton Mystery air (Manufactured when I was about 3 years old) which I revere as snowboard relics along with an old burton elite in my garage.

Currently I ride a K2 Darkstar which is the perfect park board for me, I havent ridden anything better for rails and jumps, burton customs or se7en dont compare in my book. and for bindings Ive never really like them, they have too much forward lean and I love my K2 autos and my Union Forces. Ive ridden Cartels, which are in the same price range and I dont like them anywhere near as much, however I wouldnt mind a pair of triads, those are nice.

I will admit I might be a little biased, I dont buy american eagle, Hollister or abercrombie because of the logos and names associated with every person I see wearing them but overall I am extremely happy with the quality of other company's gear for the price when compared to Burton
