How long does fresh powder stay soft and fluffy?

Newb question but I just rode in my first real powder day yesterday with over 15" of powder, and with it snowing even more a total of 31" the past 72 hours, now Im planning to go back up on Sunday, will the powder still be soft or will it be too late to go and be hard base packed powder?

Thanks

If the runs are well-traveled it won't even make a day...less-traveled areas depends on the weather conditions over time.

if its a busy place it will either be groomed, packed down, or moguled out due to those other guys with the 2 planks attached to their feet. for some reason they dont carve, they enjoy doing stops every 5 feet..:dunno:

i love plowing through the moguls just to ruin their fun a bit, it always sucks though when what you expect to be a chunk of unhit powder ends up being hardpack
