Forum newb vendors

I've been wondering about this for quite awhile and decided I had to ask.

On this forum, we don't accept companies showing up and trying to sell some fabulous new invention for snowboarding. I don't think I've seen any of these go anywhere since I've been here btw.

On this forum, we don't accept people coming here asking us to fill out a survey or otherwise "do their homework" without providing an explanatory video.

These companies/individuals are usually fiercely abused if they try these things.
My question is, why do we not "welcome" new members whose first/second/third posts are all to sell their gear?
In the same way as the others above, these individuals haven't contributed anything to the forum. They have clearly joined the forum for one purpose only. And rarely are they heard from again.

Shouldn't these people be roasted in the same way as the vendors and survey people?

In my opinion big difference between someone trying to dump some gear for a couple bucks in their pocket or to lessen the load of some new stuff and a company trying to sell stuff at MSRP.

If you want to advertise your company pay Google to do it. And I think you do find that those who try to peddle their used stuff at crazy prices do get called out on it.

Also, with individuals they post there stuff, then dissapear. Open the doors to companies and every week they'll post the same crap trying to peddle.

f00bar mostly nailed it. The "Buy and Sell" subforum is for exactly that. The problem with trying to lay on too many rules is that someone then has to enforce them. Like "can't post used equipment until you have 50 posts", means one of the mods has to troll the buy and sell threads and check post counts.

And yeah, a couple of people who've asked for ridic prices have gotten the "treatment".

Also, some of the businesses are doing ok on the forum, but they're all businesses that have continued to post and have become regular contributing members.

I personally wouldn't mind vendors posting some new gear with discounts for forum members.

And they will, but members will continue to sift out the trash.

Like you said, most of the one post wunders trying to sell gear? They are never heard from again. Good riddance! Right?

My question surrounding those types of posts,? Does anyone here actually buy from any of those posters? Especially any of the ones that aren't linked up thru CL of the Bay?

I wouldn't trust 'em!

.and GD, I have seen many a 1pw get raked across the coals. Usualy they're trying to sell some 4-5 yo board at 10% or sum shit below the current MSRP for a new one! ("Like new! .only has three core shots and a peeled top sheet!") Those are some FUN threads!!!

I've always felt the buy/sell forum kind of polices itself as anyone that has a brain won't pay 20% mark down on a 3 year old board.

You usually see something like "well if you're not going to buy it don't post here I can sell it for whatever I want. I snowboarded 4 times I know more than you. "

As I said, I had to ask.
