Newb: did I buy the correct setup?

Hey guys let me first say I'm new to the forum and thanks for any help and thanks for having me.

I have snowboarded a total of 6 days ever and I love it. Hoping to get some more time to learn this winter.I'm 24 y/o somewhat athletic. I have a history in racing quads, motocross, wake boarding, skateboarding, and bmx. I'm 6'4" 205lbs. I've rode all-mountain only... Never tried the park or jumps yet but my start trying some jumps this winter. I'm confident on any blue hill I've tried and link turns well. I'm also want to start trying some switch riding and some black hills.

Ok now for the setup I bought. I bought a 165w lib-tech skunk ape, GNU psych rear entry bindings, and DC Avaris boots.

Obviously haven't had a chance to have it out on snow yet but hoping to about mid way through December. Boot fit perfect and are comfortable just around the house but the boot don't agree well with the rear entry bindings but are manageable.

Do you guys think this will be a good setup to progress on?

Thanks,
Adam

What size boots are you wearing and what are the conditions you ride at?

I wear a size 13 boot and I live in Alabama... So obviously the only places within in driving distance are going to be almost 100% man made snow... Which I haven't had a chance to ride yet but planing a trip to Ober Gatlingburg in Tennessee in December. But in January I'm taking a week trip to Stowe Vermont And winter 2015/16 I'm want to plan a trip to Jackson Hole.

With the 13's, the Skunk Ape will be alright for you. As far as jumps go, it should be fine for you. It's certainly not a park board, but it won't kill you or anything. It's a lot of board for the terrain that it sounds like you'll be riding for most of the winter, but it'll be great when you get it to some real powder and steeps. :)

What do you mean by a lot of board for the terrain?

In Gat TN...i'd imagine 2-3" of dust on crust at a comparative green/blue run to our pnw hills...hell you could do a snowskate. Thus a skunkape is alot of board for those conditions.

Bottom line. ..
You bought it. Its a good board. Ride it this season and if you don't like it start a quiver

On the bindings make sure you adjust right, with gnu. You need to ensure you set size right.
There are some videos on adjusting the fastec bindings. Make sure toe cap and heel are set to right length.
That will make in and out easier.

put a stamp on it bud and just send it! thats a sweet setup, it should get you anywhere you need to be before you decide on your next board. have fun

Newb: did I buy the correct setup?

Well I did a little research before I bought everything... I guess I was just getting myself a little psyched out... I can't wait to try everything out!!! One more question... What is a PNW hill? Forgive me for being a newb... My lingo isn't up to par...
