My 9 year old is starting to ride switch!

While teaching my 6 year old daughter, he didn't want to ride alone, so he started to ride switch!
Linking turns both ways now... pretty cool

You should take some pics and post up some kid stoke. Those reports always seem to be fun.

Congrats!

Your 9-year-old is more badass than me.

Wow, he's a prodigy. I give him props for learning it because that is the hardest aspect of riding. If your kid has a good foundation of fundamental riding skills, he's gonna be nasty when he gets older.

I'm quite proud of him, this year his progression has finally kicked in after really struggling past seasons.

Yes learning switch when you are young is a good thing. My daughter at age seven, we thought was regular and rode that way for the first 2 years (a fortunate mistake)...then she figured out she was really goofy...last year at age 13 could blow pass my ass either way down groomers, double blacks and has no problem spinning or landing either way.

That's Suhweet!! I can't wait 'til my daughter can blow pass my ass down the mountain!! She'll be 2 in May, and so far I've gotten her to say, "SNOWBOARDING YEEAAAH!!!" "YEAAH DAWG!!" and "WOOOO Snowboarding!!! Maybe next year we'll get her a little board of her own.

Any thoughts on how young is TOO young to get started? I've seen a little little one, younger than mine is now, up there on mini-skis, being towed by a parent. But the poor thing was screaming her head off the whole way down the bunny hill! I was soooo thankful I wasn't 'That' mom.

I tried my son at 5, but it was really hard, snowboarding I think requires a lot more leg strength than skiing. 6-7 seems to be a good age. My daughter just turned 6, she is picking it up but slowly, and her legs tire easily.

have seen 4 and 5 yr olds on boards, younger skiing...last year this patroller had some little bindings mounted (t-bolted) between his legs and had his 2-3 year old son standing in the bindings and son's arms wrapped around dad's knees...they were cruising the groomers...pretty cool and the little guy seemed to be quite happy...what a way to get used to the speed, rhythm and motion. Skier friend has a 6? month old baby he just puts in the back carrier and off they go...he says the
extra weight in back helps when doing back flips.

Ha, sweet! Yeah, yeah, video!!!

And that goofy mistake proved to be golden!
