Tomorrow morning i set out for mammoth mountain. Ive only gone snowboarding 5 times now, but im starting to get carving down. Stopping heelside and toeside came natural to me (thank god, a lot of my friends have trouble with toeside). So i do go off some kickers, usually the smaller ones, and i hit a few jibs such as lower rails, boxes, podiums.. ect.
Ive never been to mammoth, so what should i expect, what should i keep in mind, and should i ride this mountain a different way then i would the local Mt. High and Snow Valley. (Live in San Bernadino) Thanks for advice in advanced. And feel free to Email me. usc0304champs@netscape.net

Its just going to be a bigger mountain. You have to watch out becasue the trail ratings are only relative to the respective resort. A blue sqare at mammoth may be a black at mt high I dont know i havent been to either of those resorts. Just ride courteous and dont be an idiot and you will be fine.

Mammoth is great compared to the local spots, but there's nothing too crazy about it. If you'll be there in the middle of the week you shouldn't have to worry too much about crowds, which is always nice.
There isn't any snow coming through until maybe the weekend, so you're going to basically be looking at spring conditions. Don't be in too big a hurry to get out in the AM since everything will be iced up hard from the night before. Things usually start to thaw out about halfway through the morning, and it's usually a good ride until mid afternoon when it completely turns into a slurpee. Take the opportunity the bigger mountain provides to challenge yourself, and enjoy the longer runs. |

If you are on your first few days of riding avoid going to the peak with all of the double blacks. (and one black) From what I remember from a few years ago all of these have a fairly large cornice that you have to jump off of to get on the actual slope.
