mix/match roof rack components?

Just picked up a used Thule square-bar base rack system.

Will most likely buy the actual snowboard/ski rack used as well - does it matter if the actual rack is a Inno, Yakima, etc brand? I would think not but google isn't showing much in this respect.

Thanks for the help.

They generally have attachments to match any crossbar, but I'd look for Thule first.

My Yakima looks like it will fit square bars or round.
I'm not sure how commons square bars are, I thought those were many years back, my point. Make sure what ever carrier you get it will allow you to use square bars.
Hate to see ya buy something and then it won't work for ya. That's never fun

All of the current Yakima snowboard racks are compatible with square bars. Select any rack on their site and it shows what bars it will work with on the product page. I'm not familiar with inno.

As long as the attachment's mounts fit the type of cross bars you have. Round, square, etc,.. it seems most things will mix n match!

I got a super deal last fall on an REI garage sale return of some Yakima round bars and Q towers, along with a Thule Kayak carrier,.. and then this last Feb, after I got my dividend check. I used my 20% off coupon to take off the sale price of a Yakima MTB carrier? I got a $200 bike rack for less than $35 out of pocket!!

In the end, I think I'm under $375 for $800-$900 worth of roof rack!!
