Angry Never Fly Frontier, Ever

lots of swearing, big rant, read if you wish and post any comments you want to(especially if you've had similar problems)...

alright let me elaborate on this, and why I think they're some of the worst people I've ever met. I just spent last week snowboarding at keystone and a-basin and had a flight home yesterday at 3pm, scheduled to land here at 6pm local time. we got to frontier's checking counter(whatever the fucking thing's called) and the lady(bitch) immediately told us she wouldn't let us on our flight. apparently they have a cut off of arriving 45 minutes prior to take off to get the baggage onto the plane, and we were about 40 minutes early. 5 minutes means a lot to these people, i guess, and she told us that they wouldn't wait a single minute for us and that we'd have to find another way home.

we then offered the idea of us catching this flight and picking up our bags at a different time from another flight, no dice from this bitch. she put us on stand-by for a flight that left at 7pm, which pissed me right the fuck off because of the huge inconvenience and how rude she was being. That flight ended up having no room and led up to the most important part of our little rant.

I HAD TO FUCKING DRIVE HOME FROM DENVER COLORADO. I LIVE IN MILWAUKEE FUCKING WISCONSIN. they had no open flights until the middle of next week, and trains were a no go. they offered no kind of compensation for the fact that half of my ticket wasn't being used and the rental car was out of our wallets. it took 15 hours and change to drive home(side note: the entire state of nebraska smells like horse shit) and when we got to the airport a few hours ago to claim the baggage they put on the flight we were supposed to be on(big what the fuck moment right there) no one from frontier was there to let us claim the bags and we were told to come by later in the week. I could see my fucking bag through the glass door, how can nobody else in the entire damn airport have a key to that room? I'm out to get a few people fired right now and those miserable fucks better pray to god there's nothing wrong with my board or anything else i have in that bag. on that note, enough ranting for now.

thats a damn shame man. Im sorry to hear about that. besides its not like your missing out on much with your board in the shop, Im almost positive alpine is closed and tyrol should be open by the time you get your board back. honestly I would have talked to security, showed them your plain ticket or your baggage claim or something. Id finish off a shitty trip with another good one if I were you by going to Granite Peak or Indianhead.

P.S. we should get some beers and watch some snowboard DVD's sometime. Im down in Racine

we talked to security, they said they couldn't open the door to frontier's office unless an employee was there. so i have to go back tomorrow, this shit's ridiculous.

I hate pretty much everything to do with flying. I've never heard that you had to check your bags 45 minutes before takeoff so I probably would have been in your shoes as well. Except, I may have jumped over the counter and strangled the lady.

Sorry about the crap experience.

ive taken frontier twice for my trips out to colorado and it was alright. Nothing i can bitch about.

I do know about checking in 45 mins prior to take off and i believe its pretty standard for all airline esp for check bags. Im sure they woulda let u on the plane if u hadnt have any luggage that needed to be checked in.

Also, im guessing u probably arrived at the airport early early morning to pick up ur luggage. Otherwise im sure there would be someone there manning the office. Usually airline will have staff out by 4-5 ish for the earliest flight going out of the airport around 6.

sry u had to drive all the way home.

But its always good to show up 1-1.5 hrs prior to departure if u have luggage that needs to be checked, for domestic flight that is. For international, make it 3. Oh yea trust me u need that 3 hrs esp if ur going thru airports with heavy traffics.

ive learned my fair share of lessons on showing up late at the airport.

Sounds right. At Vancouver International I gotta be there 3hrs early to check baggage in for international flights (to Asia at least). And ummm domestic I remember having to drop my parents off at the airport ~one and a half hours before the departure time for their flight to Vegas last month.

Wolfie, you have no idea what I have to deal with, living in NYC and all. I have to get to the airport at least 2-3 hours to get through all the security and shit. Airports suck.

It's especially annoying coming back home from abroad. Anyone who has ever had a connecting flight somewhere outside the United States knows what I am talking about. An extra security checkpoint inside the airport? HA! Let me tell you a little story about that:

I was flying home through Frankfurt, Germany last summer. In order to get to the America bound flights, you have to go through another set of metal detectors. There are only 2 metal detectors at the entrance point, so as you can imagine the line is freaking long. I only had about 30 mins of connection time (my flight was late leaving Riga, Latvia) so as you can imagine I was feeling a little frustrated.
I was wearing cargo jeans with lots of zippers, which set off the metal detectors (American metal detectors are apparently much more sensitive). Of course, that means I am carrying a bomb strapped to my body right? A tall 6'2 German woman with piercing cold eyes and blond hair, came up, took me aside and proceeded to frisk me. After about 5 minutes of explaining that the zippers of my jeans set off the metal detectors and that I'm really not a terrorist, I was finally let through.

All in all, I barely made my flight. I had to run through the rest of the terminal and was one of the last people let on the plane.

uve got nth compared to my experiences...

im an international student....
whenever i come into the states thru airport, i have to be photographed, finger printed and interviewed/interrogated for an hr before they let me thru. Same thing if im leaving port.

and 2-3 yrs ago, i even had to go to the INS office and check in every 30 days for the same procedure.

ditto to snowbun on the extra security check point.

Sorry for the shit experience.

We've flown Frontier to Denver from Florida many times and never had that happen to us even when we arrived later than you did.

Delta is a decent choice if you can get them out of Wisconsin. Coming back from SLC we left FOR the airport 1 hour before our flight from Skybox sports bar. Returned our rental car, and checked in with about 35 minutes to go. Went through about 10 minutes of TSA and made our flight without problems.

Your thread makes me think I may start arriving earlier for flights. But I hate the hurry up and wait game.
