I plan to get this camera....
HD Helmet Camera - ContourHD by VholdR This one would be my second choice. I don't wear a helmet or I would probably just get the helmet wide model since it's pretty cheap. GoPro - Wearable Digital Cameras for Sports |

V.I.O. POV.1 Camera Package from Backcountry.com
^ is the one I have...pretty freaking sweet! Just used it this past weekend in a buddies Mustang drag racing at Bandimere Speedway. Pretty sweet vids! It works great, sound is good..The only thing I dont like is it's slow to clean up the picture when it goes from a well lit to a darker area. |

I use the olympus stylus 850 sw the thing is sick , its a handheld camera/camcorder its freeze proof, waterproof , you can drop it from 10 ft wont break, i take it everywhere wakeboarding in the summer, underwater vids and pics, snowboarding, heres a youtube review on it YouTube - Olympus Stylus 7.1MP Waterproof Digital Camera with... they got new ones now like the 1030sw and 1050sw i think you can just go further under water like 25 feet compaired to my 10 ft. you could find good deals i got mine on ebay for $200 when it was the newest one out.

no its a hand held, i was just throwing other options out there ya dig. i actually like using handhelds because you can utilize different angles and shots not just point of view, which are cool too. sometimes I do want a pov camera just so I can keep my hands free but the angles that a hand held can do are just more fun to me.

Regular camcorders aren't ruggedized for action sports. The VIO is a good camera except for high price, inferior resolution, and the damn recorder with cables in your backpack. For most of these cameras you need to take your gloves off to push buttons and often your goggles too to be able to see which button you're pushing. That's why I like the ContourHD - it has one huge slider for on/off. Easy to use with glove on, quick, no checking. HD is much more forgiving with lighting conditions etc plus it just looks so much better than any other video.
But, still, I recommend to everyone... rent them before you buy and try it out: VIO - Adventure Eye, ContourHD emotioncam.com |
