(fwiw i do not have sound on my comp, so not sure if this makes a difference...)

....I don't get it. The skier had the right of way. He was downhill from the snowboarder. Tsk-tsk to the skier stopping in the middle of the trail but it looked like he only paused - b/c he is obviously a beginner - and was about to continue on.

The snowboard had a HUGE amount of time to avoid the skier.

This is 100% the snowboarders fault.

The whole title of the video is stupid. To me it just seems like an unfortunate accident that someone wanted to try and profile into a snowboarder vs. skier, local vs. tourist scenario.

I suspect the entire thing was staged, kind of like a Jackass on Snow. Something about the way the skier moves tells me more skilled than he is showing.

SNOWBOARDER WIPES OUT SKIING FRIEND

Entertaining footage has emerged of a snowboarder crashing into a skier on a slope in Santa Fe, New Mexico, US.

Friends say the snowboarder was trying to scare a skiing friend by getting close before stopping, but accidentally sent him flying into the air.

In the footage from Monday the snowboarder comes up behind Brandon, the skier, at speed with the intention of stopping just before impact. As he tries, he knocks the skier's legs out from under him and sends him spectacularly upwards into the air in a wave of snow.

The filmer later wrote online: " While on vacation in Santa Fe we hit the slopes for a half day of skiing. My friend Brandon hadnít been on skis in over a decade so most of the day was spent getting back into the groove.

"After lots of convincing we talked him in to going on an expert black diamond slope for the last run of the day. He was nervous but eventually relented and went along."

"Things were going well until our friend who was trailing behind on his snowboard decided to see how close he could get to Brandon before stopping. Big time fail."

I've been to SF, even there that isn't a black...

Looks like they were both a little clueless, I'm just glad someone had a camera on. I think the saying is, "And for that, we thank you."
