Well, so for the first time in my life I'm about to be living near some board hills, in Kingston, ON. I've been looking for places to go boarding over the winter...

I'd consider myself a beginner, I've been out 7-8 times in my life, but I can turn, go down the hill etc. I won't be doing any park/rails so don't worry about that.

Here are a few places I've found so far:
Dry Hill, Watertown, NY (looks small, but good for me to progress to the next level, only 30min away)
Snow Ridge, Turin, NY (a bit bigger, gets lots of snow, a bit more variety than dry hill, about 1-1.5 hrs away)
Gore Mountain, NY (this would be a weekend trip for me. I've found a B&B with a single room with some decent rates)
Tremblant, Quebec (I haven't looked at this, just realized that it's only about 3-3.5 hrs away, and in Canada)

Am I missing anything in north NY or in the Ottawa/Montreal Region?
Can you tell me anything good/bad about the hills above?

Thanks!

tremblant is a blast... and the nightlife is great as well. i'd be spending lots of time there if i were you. i'm in ontario and i'll be going there as well... and its 8 hours aways for me. so there ya go. thats my call. if i'm willing to drive that far, 3.5 hours is nothing. and go have a pint at le petit caribou. yum.

Not into drinking/partying ha, but I think I'm going to go to the smaller/cheaper places in NY that are in driving distance for a day (leave in the morning, back home at night) and then once I get better go for weekend trips...

I was at Tremblant last weekend!

Excellent place, and the 6 hour drive from Toronto was well well worth it. People there were saying that they haven't had a season start like this in over 10 years.

The only bad thing is that its REALLY REALLY cold there... which can also mean alotta ice on the trails. I wouldn't go there mid-season, cuz it'll be too cold, but good for late or early season.

There's also White Face in Lake Placid ,Jay Peak VT. Sugar Bush VT, Stowe VT. White Face and Jay are closer than Gore. Gore is not a real board friendly mt. There are a lot of flat spots. Although white face does get pretty icey. They don't call it Ice Face for nothin'.
