Larry gets first ride in and does a tabletop

My son and I did our annual thanksgiving weekend first ride at big boulder

We all know I don't do park. And I have the worst knees in the world
But at my sons egging. He got me to attempt a tabletop
I tried 3 times. Did a 50/50 and a board slide. But alas epic fails on the landings off the table
But my knees and I survived... perhaps an almost 53 yo with a broken body can do limited park

I'll try to post the fail video

Feels great to be out on a board

sabatoa, Motogp990, ekb18c and 2 others like this.

Bravo Larry! that was cool, i would only do that one particular boardslide because it is wider. although last year i (pressured by my neighbor) to slide on two thinner ones and actually landed it, boost my confidence and prompted me to buy protective gear for this season and will look like Slyder with armor on Keep at it Larry!

Abosolutly full armour. I wear the demon snow top and bottom (flex force pro) even on regular riding, been doing that since day 1. I can't afford to be out of work

Haha. I can just imagine what a young guys says when he sees this.

But hey at least you guys try the park. I'm too chicken I will get hurt or look like an idiot (I probably look like an idiot anyhow). Also the park at my local hill is always full of assholes.

Great job and keep at it!

You hit the brakes instead of straightened out on the dismount. From experience that never ends well I really have to concentrate not to do that whenever I have air instead of snow under the board. Fear is way harder to overcome as you get older, that's for sure.

Really get them knees bent may help to keep you from rotating on the table. In some ways I think the wider tables can be harder because you don't have to think about staying straight so much and its easy to wander a bit and have to correct the landing.

Just take is slow. Like my 3rd time when I thought I was all that I tried to do a board press and ended up flat on my back on the middle of the box. The lift that goes up next to it was laughing their asses off no doubt!

I'm go to try to get into some boxes and jumps this year. This is probably exactly how I will end up handling them all year haha. Usually I just like steeps, trees, groomers, etc. But want to try to learn to his a box or two when going through the park and learn to hit some natural jumps. My problem so far with jumps is transitioning from the snow to air. As soon as I take off I lose balance and my board wants to sail.
