Default What could it be?

TheSpec.com - Sports - Canada's secret weapon So appearently us canadians have a "secret weapon"? in the olympics.

What are ur guys thoughts on this? What do u think it could be?

from the article "The plate system allows the board to flex more while the boots remain stationary, giving the riders more contact with the snow and thus more speed."

Is this considered cheating?

Thats a tuff one. I wouldn't say its cheating, but it seems unfair that only the Canadian team can have them. Maybe if other teams were allowed to use them too. It seems weird tho, its not really part of a snowboard, so in that sense i dont think it should be allowed in the sport. You get a board and bindings, thats all.

Interesting, could act like a shock absorber to dampen or lessen the bouncing around the ruts on the course, allowing more contact with the snow...thus more speed. And it being elevated, like riser plates enhance ankle articulation so it allows for finer edge control/performance. imo its not cheating...its innovation

We'll have to wait and see if it works out any better than the Canadian Snowboard Team's last secret weapon:

Yeah Ross was allowed to keep his medal. He had tested positive for Marijuana before the Olympic games started. The organizers kept it in their back pocket as a way to scare snowboard competitors straight, and busted it out when he won the gold. One problem. Marijuana was not on the list of banned substances. Illegal in many countries yes, but it was not on Olympic list as a performance enhancing drug. Duh. Needless to say, it's on the banned substance list now...
