Winter Weather Predictions - Snowboarding Forum

Sup all,

So I was browsing around NOAA when I stumbled upon these "Winter Weather" graphs.

Now being from Washington State, the map seems to be correct. I know that we’ve had 40% less precip,
because I’ve done about 40% less riding. And looking at California, given their recent washout, which
dumped 70″+ of snow in a week at local resorts (bear/tahoe/squaw), It is safe to say that they have been “Wetter”.
That is only precipitation though, how about temperature?

Kinda weird to look at isn’t it? I would think it would be reversed being that Florida isn’t usually
the coldest place, but everything seems to have followed the trend pretty well
(with the exception of the Northern Midwest Snowstorm right around Christmas).

So my questions to you are…

Have the maps been correct in your neck of the woods?
Has the temperature seemed warmer or colder then last year?
How's the snowpack in your area? Does it seem to correspond to the graph?

Well, between living in Washington and watching the news, I would say these weather predictions are pretty spot on. The snowpack definitely matches up for Washington. I wish we had more snow right now. I want some Pow, not just groomed out hardpack.

At least you have the opportunity for pow out there. Here, we've been cold.. and are still riding on fake shit.

for Michigan its died on it rained last night here its kind of depressing me a little but i think its supposed to cool down this week and snow finally

Okay here comes the weather dork in me.. gotta disagree with this Snowolf. This recent bout of warmth here in the East had more to do with a pattern change than anything. This storm that we're getting now is the storm that is going to shift the pattern back to cooler weather. El Nino is playing a factor however I think its just providing storms more juice...

Rainy and 55 degrees here in PA. I would like some of the cold to come back. I guess it will happen later this week.

it will, sit tight.. Tuesday will be noticeably colder. The real cold stuff is apparently from the weekend on.
