Missed out on my first powder day ever........... :'(

I started boarding last season and have been about 15 times. I'm absolutely in love and have been trying to go every weekend this season. However, out of all the times I've been boarding.. I have yet to have a real powder day. Pretty much just been shreddin the groomers. I've been waiting a full year for this day.. and I think I blew it this morning. I don't know if it's that my alarm didn't go off or that I went to bed too late and shut the alarm off in my sleep, but I woke up like 3 hours late and heading up the mtn was no longer an option for today.

I'm heading up tomorrow, but there's not going to be any snowfall tonight. I'm in Socal heading to Big Bear where they got around 5 ft in the past week... My question is will I still get the waist deep powder riding in that 5 ft tomorrow morning or is all the powder done for after everyone riding over it today?

if they got 5ft of snow you can probably find some stashes if you know where to look.

i guess it depends how much grooming they do. I've never been anywhere that got that much snow, but seems like conditions shouldn't be icy at all with that much snow.

Yeah it's being called the 'storm of the winter' out here. M-Th it was dumping 1+ ft a day and then there was a few inches last night and this morning. No more snow expected until Tuesday.

My only powder experience was when a random 4 inches dropped in Mammoth when I was up there spring boarding last season. But it was all torn through within an hour so I didn't really get much of a feel for it. Except in a couple little spots I found where I would get that feeling of riding on air and that 'hissing' as you glide over it instead of the 'scratching' sound against the groomers... I don't know if that makes sense but it was the most f*cking amazing feeling/ride. THAT is what I'm hoping to get some of tomorrow... But it seems like I may have majorly blown it

its a mixed blessing...the roads were effing ridiculous...you would have been stuck in traffic forever, and probably would have gotten in an accident, so many idiots out there with no chains...not to mention the 38 is under like 20 feet of snow and i guess the 330 had an avalanche...lol i feel like my sources are exaggerating these details...but hey i hear its crazy regardless

i didn't get to go up this weekend at all because my whole neighborhood was snowed in without power, my family was literally imprisoned in our cabin lol

but don't trip, i know a run they usually don't groom @ bear. you take chair 7 (pretty sure thats the one) up (yes thats a beginner lift, its the one on the right, closer to "the scene"), then when you get off you skate over to that other chair that takes you up to the top. Basically you want to get to "Geronimo"....when you start going down stay on the right, at one point the run will bracnh off into two, on the left it will be groomed but the right will be all powdered out so stay on the right

i haven't been on that run since last season so it might not be like that anymore but its worth a shot...honestly though it probably won't be that fun, powder is such a leg workout lol and us socal riders really don't know whats up with powder anyway...no doubt its fun, but i think i'm happy with my groomed allmountain park runs
