i would like to think that what serves as a guideline to his presentation, is the level of extremism indulged in by those he would oppose.

moore is afterall a product of a nation who has perpetuated a state of war since its inception. occasionally these have been for a 'greater good' but even then, we know that the primary motive was a big fat pay day.

if that is the extent of what he would wish to oppose, then it would require an equally as extreme stance to the opposite, to realise a more moderate 'middle ground'.

this being said, the main objection to Moore is his success. despite the hippie traits people might conclude i entertain, i never like michael moore. i thought his TV show TV Nation was complete tripe; a bunch of self satisfying smug clips of sarcasm....

meanwhile, a london geezer called Mark Thomas was rocking! and was genuinely a funny fella!

While I agree that guns are something that needs better regulation, I think the crux of the problem here lies with the breakdown of society and a total lack of common civility in America. As mentioned, Canadians own plenty of guns, yet there is not even a fraction of the crime rate we have in the states. I carry a large calibur handgun when backpacking in bear country because it is easier to pack and quicker to use in an attack. I have no problem with being required to have a permit and undergo safety evaluations and criminal/mental background checks. Even a medical card similar to what I have to have to fly an aircraft that must be renewed. If diagnosed with severe depression or bi polar disorder etc, an aviation medical card is suspended and an individual cannot fly untill they are recertified by a medical examiner. If a person is deemed unsafe in the air due to emotional or mental issues, why can they still posses a firearm?

Banning guns only punishes the decent people to get at a few shit heads and would be alogistical nightmare for the government like the war on drugs has been. We need to adress societal issues and enact better regulation.
