So after getting my 9yo stepson a board from a local guy on craigslist for $45 I only had to get him some boots/bindings and he'd be ready to go! The bindings that were on the board were pretty crappy so figured mine as well just see what I could do. After a great deal of online pricing I decided to start calling around to some local places. Mind you, I'm in Omaha so there aren't really all that many lol. To my surprise stuff was marked way way down! Managed to get a pair of Burton Freestyle Jr. 09's for $26. Got them from Dick's of all places. Apparently they were used (looked more like a return/exchange) but I don't think they were ever mounted. Factory blue locktite on the screws was still there! The boots we picked up for $11. They're Morrow Slick 08 boots size 4 hehe. Yeah they're a couple years old but my kid isn't going to care when he starts shredding! So my wife and I managed to hook him up with some great noob gear for under 100 bucks!
As cheap as some of the online stuff appears to be, I totally encourage folks to check around locally 1st! Even if I got the gear at the same cost online I still would be saving the shipping on each item for the cost of an hour or so and a little gas! Very much worth it!

I always support the local shops whenever I can! Usually buy clothes, boots, gloves, jackets and pants at my local shop mainly because I like to try that stuff on before I buy them.
But man Sierrasnowboards.com just has some amazing deals.. |
