What's in your bladder?

No not piss.

I just picked up a platypus hydration bladder. I'm wondering what you guys put in there besides water? I'm assuming powdered mix drinks make it too messy? Gatoraid? Energy mixes?

I just use water in mine. I don't want it getting all funked up with other stuff. They make stuff to clean them out but no need if I only using water.

Don't go where the road leads, rather go where this is no road and make a trail.

Gatorade, or anything with sugar, will make your bladder pretty nasty real quick. Camelback makes some dissolvable tablets that have caffine and electrolytes, and are designed specifically not to muck up your bladder. They aren't bad, I use them more for long mountain bike rides. Either that or just water.

Hmm I guess I'll stick to just water. I don't mind keeping a gatoraid in my pack but I'm worried about falling and breaking the bottle and soaking up my extra gear that's back there.

So I guess there's no drink that's bladder safe? I'm assuming the sugar pits the bladder?

Gin and Tonic
Jack and Coke
Bud Light
Absinthe

No really, if I'm going on a long trip just water, but usually its easier to just throw bottles in the backpack.
