Weather News: Deep South Bracing for Heavy Snow - The Weather Network
30 Centimetres. That's how much snow fell in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas yesterday.
And if that doesn't put things into perspective, how about this: 30 centimetres is just shy of this winter's total amount of snow in Toronto so far!
Needless to say, this has been an unusually stormy winter in the United States.
Back to back blizzards this week brought record amounts of snow to places like Washington, Baltimore and Philadelphia. Governments, airports and schools were shut down for days.
Today, it's business as usual in most cities. Kind of.
Snow-clearing resources have been stretched to the limit. As a result, some roadways across the mid-Atlantic are still covered in snow.
Forecasters are focusing their attention on the southern states. The same system that brought snow to Texas yesterday is now making its' way over to Florida. Students there were given a rare snow day, and hundreds of flights were cancelled going in and out of Atlanta.
I just got out of cast for a broken wrist and really want to go back out for some more lessons - but we have no snow! I mean the local hill claims machine groomed powder conditions - but its was more like icy snow to me
