Default update :|

well, things didn't go as I envisioned.
Still had a great time with my boys and they had fun

I practiced my switch riding still weak, but getting there.
I was hitting the jumps good. Much more speed, good pop off the lip, pulling my knees to my chest, good balance in the air and good stomp landings. I almost even did a FS grab, not bad for an old guy

I was still not rotating enough on my 180's I did hit one late in the day, felt great, good twist, lots of lift, stomped the landing, then WHAM bif, switch riding to weak for faster speeds. It hurt bad, even with the impact shorts. About an hour later I was done. I even tried to just slowly link turns which was fine, but putting the bindings on, ouch, so I called it a day about an hour early

Taking 2 weeks off, as schedule is to busy to ride so it'll give me some heal time. All-in-all still progressing for an older guy just starting out. I'm happy with my riding, but still much to learn.
Practice, Practice, Practice and I'll get there.

Not to be a smart ass but. You can't ride switch well and can't jump good enough to do a grab but thought it was a good idea to try 180's? Congrats on trying and progressing though.

As far as I'm concerned that's one of the best parts about snowboarding, no matter what your skill level there's always something new to learn!

I am continuing to get better at switch riding, again just started this year. Landing switch is a whole different feeling. Since you couldn't share any tips maybe I should try some SMALL jumps switch till I am better at this. I did land 180's last week and a few non-impressive ones this week. I still need more rotation of my shoulders hahaa

My jumps are at beginner level and I am able to land them easily. 2-3 foot kickers with landing base and with out. Hope my terminology is correct?

I am trying to improve my technique. I will not nor do I kid myself in thinking I can do what others that are 20 years younger than me are doing. But I am trying things that I think I do/will have the physical ability to do. I don't see a large gap jump in my future, ever. I do see medium boxes and rails and intermdiate jumps. Pipe stuff, again, probably just riding in it, nothing else.

Studying and practice and getting a set of wrist gaurds. No sense in getting hurt more than necessary.
But it is a cool feeling when you do get some clean jumps with a solid landing. Still having a blast and my kids are having a great time with their dad
