basically diluting the sb wax with canning wax/parafin. A bar of sb wax...maybe an 1/8 of lb with 1/4 lb of canning wax. Mentioned earlier 80-90 percent is parafin...canning wax...grocery store $4.50/lb = 8 bars of sb wax... got it? I also use the crayon method of waxing vs the drip method...crayon uses less wax, less scraping and less mess...like I noted a very cheap sob. I wax every other day out...get about 25-30 days/year and have 6 boards and 2 sets of skis to maintain.

I mix waxes all the time....use a little combo, it's kinda fun finding the perfect concoction.

Edit:
not all the time...I don't wax all that often but I mix it every time I do wax it....lol

So you boiled the wax in the old cans in a pot of hot water? Do you get any fumes from this? I might try to do this in my apartment. But I don't wanna burn the place down or die...

DO NOT BOIL THE WAX!!! wax is a hydro carbon (petroleum product...like gasoline) and highly flammable...so if wax is smoking...it is in a gaseous state or vaporized and a spark or flame will set it off.

So in cooking there is the "double boil method" (ask your gf or mom). It is where you boil the water in a larger pan and in the smaller pan/can, you put the wax in to melt it (you also do this when melting chocolate)..you put the smaller can in the boiling water. As soon as the wax MELTS then shut off the burner/stove, give it a stir with an old chop stick (a few noodles won't hurt) and then pour the wax into the mold.

Folks, if you don't have some common sense...don't do this...don't burn yourself, your house down or get wax on your new sweater.

That's what I was asking you to clarify. I said "So you boiled the wax in the old cans in a pot of hot water?" Sorry for not being clear. What I meant was, boil(((wax)old can)hot water). But I understood what you said. I asked again to clarify because I am not familiar with the actual term of "double boiled." I was just being dramatic about burning my place down. I don't think I have that little common sense to do something like that... Thanks for clarifying..
