Perfection = Look at ME
How does one get their own personal style? And don't just say practice at it, cause there's more to it than that.
I can watch riders that do really clean technical tricks, or ride a really steep line, but without style, it gets pretty boring pretty quick. And I can watch riders with a certain amount of style, but if it doesn't look personalized, then it just looks like another rider. So to restate my question, how does one personalize their style? |
IMHO, you can't. You either have it, or you don't. I don't think it is something you can force, it's just a part of who you are.

Would it be something that comes out of you the more comfortable you get on your snowboard?
|
Probably something that develops as you progress. I imagine some riders are just very technical, they execute and that's it, but then others just have that panache. That little something extra that makes people look twice. Can't teach it, can't define it, just know it when you (generally speaking) see it. IMHO of course...

I've noticed for the most part shorter riders tend to have better style then taller riders. It's just more difficult for someone 6' tall to tuck into a small compact spin due to longer arms, legs, torso then someone say 5'6". This isn't a rule there are definetely taller riders who have sick steez but in general shorter riders look better out there.

I think you get style, by not worrying about what others think and having fun. It should just come out unconciously.
|
I think you can work on being more smooth and fluid to get better style. Guys that have good style are in complete control in the air. Some people though will never get it...no matter what they do.
