Default Sparks On a Rail!?

So, the other day i went on this flat rail we have at our local mountain (Labrador in Truxton NY) which is about a foot wide and 20 feet long. it goes flat for about 5 feet then down at an angle for the other 15. The rail is just flat metal with 2 metal pipes along the edges. Apparently, my friend said that i got on the rail a bit crooked, trying to do a 50-50, turned my board a little bit, and for the last 5 feet or so he said there were sparks coming from my snowboard (SWEET!)

I want to know, is this possible, has anyone does it, and if it is possible is it by having your metals edges scrape against the metal edges of the rail? (Btw is super sticky and you don't gain any speed on the downhill part)

You must not be familiar with the park.
It happens quite a bit when you are not locked into the rail properly. Nothing to worry about.

Steel edge on steel pipe. Yes it's possible.
Snow or sun, not rain
I can ride the slopes with snow, the streets with sun, but rain just plain sucks.
