.. what do you do to keep reduce the amount you crap all over the Earth? As snowboarders (and people that live in consumer societies), it almost impossible to be 100% 'green', but hey, trying to be a little less of an asshole is better than being a 100% asshole.
Any tips/changes you've made to live a little more gently? - i live in japan, and there are TONS of great boards in second-hand stores. I'm finding rad used stuff, instead of new. - biodegradable wax. I use Hillbilly specifically, but after thinking about it, i wouldn't want to drink any run-off from a ski hill, with all the gnarly stuff they put into most waxes. |

I've embraced my inner 100% environmental asshole. 15mpg vehicle and more snowboards than I need that I wax regularly. I might toss a can or bottle into the recycle bin once in a while.

When staying in lodges, I pack out my own rubbish and recycle at the bins they have provided for recycling (there is a big shed on the mountain where all the recycling goes as part of the hills green movement). Not to many places stock bio-degradable waxes here yet...but i'll be giving them a shot when they do.

the biodegradable waxes are made from soy oil, and tend to be a lot harder than normal waxes. make sure you have an extra hot iron to melt them.
i live a 30-min bike ride away from my local hills. Going up tomorrow! |

I recycle. I don't litter even the smallest candy wrappers. I went to paperless mail from my credit cards and whatever else I was able to with. I type my notes from school on a laptop instead of writing it on a notebook. I use recycled paper towels. And I'm currently saving up for the recycled Vans Cirro boots. Now all I need is a hybrid car lol. |
