Just wondering if any of you do specific training and exercises to help get your legs in better shape for boarding?
I work out 6 days a week and since its getting close to the start of the season, I think it should be good to prepare.
Hahaha oh trust me.. I know what you mean.
Both resorts in my area are owned by the same Australian family and they hold yearly job fairs in Australia the May before the season starts. So all the Aussies get all the jobs first.
Nothing against the Aussies, they have a super cute accent and happen to be really nice.
But we could have a lot more seasonal jobs for locals which supports our economy. Which ultimately makes me angry.
At least I didn't lose my seasonal Big White job
I bellydance at this restaurant in exchange for free hotel lodging whenever needed.
No aussie can take that from me
Not specifically just for snowboarding but great for riding... I do squats (barbell or goblet) and leg presses. Anything that develops/maintains your core...as I get older, it's definitely more important to maintain some level of fitness for the season.
I ride my road bike a lot during the summertime...helps build muscles and endurance. If you already work out 6 days a week, I recommend to not add any exercices but swap a couple hours of your upper body training and put it in your legs.
Google good snowboard exercices you'll find precisely what you're looking for!
Running is good... But I really do hate it haha.
Everytime I'm done I need to get realligned because my spine and my hips go all out of wack.
Probably has to do with my flat feet, even though I have custom insoles. But my hips are all messed up from ballet for the last 17 years.
If you already work out 6 days a week, I would imagine you would be fine as long as you are incorporating leg exercises. In the Summer/Fall I mountain/road bike, which seems to really build up leg strength and stamina. I also work construction on and off, so I do alott of stair climbing and just weighted walking.
Not a big fan of running either, I would much rather do something lower impact like cycling.
I'm a longboard kinda gal... haha.
It's just more stable for me.
Everytime I attempt to skateboard I fall on my face.
