I'm curious as to the opinion of the sport here on the forum, I used the search engine, but there weren't that many topics on it.
I am interested in getting involved (there's a very serious 'club' in my area) but I don't here of many people on here doing that sort of thing? Is there a reason for that?
That's racing right? Sorry but I don't know anything about racing really. I occasionally watch it riding up the lift at my resort when they have them, but I don't really get it haha.
If you have an opportunity to do it, go for it! From what I've watched, it looks like whoever launches the best hole shot stands the best chance of winning due to not getting tangled with the other riders. I think the reason you don't see it much is that it probably takes a fairly dedicated trail to be reserved and maintained just for that activity. Moreso, I think, even than gate racing, since unlike gates, jumps and features can't be pulled at the end of the event. In any case, riding at those speeds so close together is pretty crazy. If that doesn't get your heart pounding, nothing will.
