Progression vs. fun

So today on a run I decided I was just going to go balls out and enjoy myself. I did a huge drop to start with, did some helicopters(360+ while on ground) and popped an ollie in the middle of the hill. I know it's not much but that was probably the most fun I have ever had snowboarding. And I did stuff I haven't been able to get down just by not even thinking about it and just going for it.

And I pulled off a boardslide (facing bottom of rail) as well, I was so happy

soo true snowolf. a couple days ago was the first time i got to ride with a couple of my friends that were at my level. it felt good to cruise down the hill with friends and it actually pushed my riding a bit. i kinda lost my train of thought but fun + progression is great! lol

If you are having fun, you will progress, just as in school you did well in subjects you liked but maybe not so well in subjects you hated. Always keep snowboarding fun. As I posted earlier about getting burnt out by making snowboarding a job, I began to loose sight of that and had to take a day to just go elsewhere and ride to regain that "magic" Whether you do it professionally as I do or just for recreation, try not to obsess upon progression to the point that you stop having fun.

AASI seems to have the order mixed up... it should be Fun, Progression, and Safety.

Progression is fun as long as you don't make everything about just progression. And gernerally when your just having fun your going to progress in some way even if you didn't intend it.

The days I'm going out just to have fun, and not make a big deal out of anything are the days I do best riding. I think just taking your time, having fun and not pressuring yourself is the best way to learn.

life IS good.

Well put everyone. I myself have fallen into Progression only. It wears on you and your nerves. Especially when your local lodge has sketchy features at best. You feel like it's all you have to get better and yet it's just damn dangerous.
