you can buy tsa approved locks, so your key/combo will work, and they have an assortment of keys that will work on every tsa approved lock too, so they don't have to cut it

I always fly Southwest and have yet to run into any issues with my board bag not making it in with my flight. Now waiting(especially at Denver) can be frustratingly long at times because it always seems that the overside luggage comes out about 30 mins after the normal luggage comes out.

Also Southwest gives you 2 free check bags which is a huge bonus.
