Default is a snowboard for snowboarding really necessary?

I'm going to Aspen for the first time in a few weeks.

I've never been snowboarding before.

I'm just trying to figure out what I really need to buy before my trip....

haha my buddy put 2 mcdonalds trays under the back tires of his accord and went front wheel drive drifting in an empty parking lot. best use of those trays ive ever witnessed.
