Lock failure,,,kinda...

I brought my lock to the hill today. It is a Brinks 4 digit dial combination lock with my cable.

I set the lock code and have used it in the past and checked it today. We come back from dinner and I can't unlock my board :dunno: Since it is a changeable one, I think I screwed it up when I set it at the hill. I couldn't get my board.

the worst part
I go to my car, get a screw driver. Undo the highback so I can slide the cable off. In front of 3 guys fixing a board right, I mean right next to me. Not one of them asked what I'm doing, is that your board, went to get security, NOTHING.

That worries me, I guess if you look like you know what your doing nobody cares....
I had a member of the resort come break the lock so I could at least reuse the cable, while we were doing that, a guy comes to report that he just had his board stolen.

It happens alot in other areas; working in various hospitals...walk right in, grab a chart and start reviewing and making copies...8 out of 10 times nobody confronts me nor ask who I am, ask to see my badge or id. Idk if nobody cares, but think its that folks don't like to confront a stranger or make a mistake and look like an a-hole.

{senario} I'm watching you undo ur bindngs on a locked board.
Me- hey, is that ur board?
You- yea, my locks fucked.
Me- shitty deal, good luck!

Regardless if it's urs or not, who am I to say that the board isnt urs. If anything, all I could do is get security. And how the fuck does security even know unless theres cams.

It all really comes down to ur word vs. mine. Unless u know ur serial number.

Just thinking different senarios.

Pull out your phone and say "You don't mind if I get a picture, just in case...". If he doesn't care, it's his (if I was in that position, I'd gladly pose for the picture). If he threatens to take your phone and insert it somewhere, you announce in a loud voice "Hey everyone, this guy's stealing a board! Have a good look!".

If you went threw the hassel of getting a fucking cutting torch. That's enough work that you deserve the board even if it isnt yours.

I wouldnt secound guess the dudes with the cutting torch lol.

The only person i'd secound guess is when u watch a dude come down, place his board, then some random grabs it and off to the parking lot they go.

On Sunday up on Seymour, I locked my board up on the rack then went into the caf and got a seat at the window looking right at the rack. While I was sitting, some grimy looking guy started standing around the rack, smoking and looking at the equipment. Eventually he looked up and saw me staring right at him, and I was making no attempt to be casual about it. He got a slightly alarmed look and left. I don't know if he was sizing them up or just casually looking while waiting for someone, but if he'd gone for ANY piece of equipment I'd have gone out and shitkicked him.
