Went Snowboarding, but wound up sledding

So, I went to loon for the day. I was doing probably my last run, when my back binding completely snapped off my board. I mean like it just completely disconnected from the board, but was still attached to my foot. Luckily, I wasn't going that fast when I fell, cause it was icy as fuck. I inspected, the damage and realized that there was no way to fix this without tools. This happened near the beginning of the run, so I knew that the hike down would take a while. Fuck it, I thought; I'll just ride my snowboard like toboggan.

And that is precisely what I did, all the way down the mountain. Everyone on the mountain was staring at me, thinking what on earth is this retard doing. The "toboggan ride" was actually pretty fun and I made it down rather quickly, using my feet to steer. The only downside was that I was COVERED in snow when I got to my car.

In case your wondering, my bindings were Burton Custom's and I plan on replacing them with Rome 390's

uhhh like out of the inserts? Wouldn't that have damaged the board also? In any case that sounds gnarly...sucks man

i would have just gotten on the back of a ski patrol sled, those things are fun as hell.

Did the bindings pull out the inserts or where they just loose? My bindings are starting to show a bit of wear so i make it a point to check them before i go ride. After about 3-4 days of hard riding my bindings start to loosen up a bit and will wiggle a bit. My hill has screwdrivers and stuff at the top and bottom of most lifts so when i notice it i just fix it.

I did had something sorta similar happen once on at the end of a park run. Right after i came over a roller my rear binding decided to rotate like 20 degrees but was still attached... Luckily it was only a short ride to the lift so i made it down but it was super awkward lol. Just be glad you weren't going any faster or you really could have got fucked.

I've had some really shitty LTD bindings do that to me once. Unfortunately, it was on a black diamond and I actually ended up going too fast just sliding on my ass...

That was not a fun hike/slide (crawl?) down the hill... :(

Man that happened to my buddy buy way worse. It was a slushy spring day and we were bombing down a run lined with trees so it was shady, when we got to the part where the sun was shining on the snow it just griped his board to a dead stop both bindings ripped out the board and he kept going doing full speed cartwheels with no hands. When I got to him he was knocked out cold, scary times. He was fine as in he dident break his neck or any bones, just a concussion.

Happend once, bombing a small cliff, didn't see the windlip at the bottom til just before hitting/launching. Managed to get my nose up so as not to dig in but torqued the board enough that the rear binding popped on takeoff...my only time flying 1 footy...screws still firmly in the board but the disc was toast.

Happened to me once and just rode it down the mountain with the back foot out holding onto the bindings. Much safer than sitting on your snowboard and riding it down. I have seen too many boards run away from people doing that.

Yup the binding completely ripped out of the inset.

Have you tried doing it with the front binding worthless on a directional board?
