Ive been riding for about 10 years and have taken an annual trip out west every year with an experienced group. This year I am going with a group that has never been out west and only skied once. How should I handle this on the mountain? Do I get my lift ticket and peace out or try to hang with them for a while on the beginner terrain? Who wants to pay $100 for that? I know that even if they can start linking turns there is no way they will be able to keep up.

d00d there is no way they're gonna keep up with yur pro status y0. Just say pz out n00bz and hit dat triple black diamond wif moguls and pull off double front flips and while in mid air wink at teh snow bunniez on the chair lift and they'll be thinking 'who is that awesome guy with those awesome skillz?' Then you just go to the end of the run, spray your noob chump friends with an insane heelside edge stop from 120 mph. Wait for dem sno bunniez and put your arms around them and say 'later you punk azz noobz you can't HANG WITH DEEZ SKILLZ' to your friends. Then you walk away and sex up dem sno bunniez in teh gondola. Booyah.

But if the other people are unrelated adults, the answer is no. My son and I took a ski shop trip out west after boarding for only a few months. Most of the other people on the trip were advanced skiers/riders, and none of them hung out on the slopes with the inexperienced people, nor did we expect them to. It would have been pointless. |

EPIC FAIL!!!
lol, take a couple of runs with them, that is if there isnt fresh snow on the ground, schedule a time to meet for lunch "in case you split up", take off, meet for lunch and be happy your not stuck on greens all day. Unless of course they're girls that your interested in, in which case teaching them will score you mad points and may get you laid, this worked out for me last year. |

How do you feel about being totally up front with them about what you want out of the trip? "I only get out there about once a year, so I'm going to need to ride by myself at a faster pace on more challenging terrain. We can meet up at times."
If they are courteous and thoughtful, hopefully they would not want to feel like they are holding you back. This way no one has hard feelings, and everyone has a good time rather than secretly being frustrated. |
