A while back, there was a thread asking everyone what their goals will be for the season. Well, we're at least a month into the season (more for some lucky ppl), so it's time to review. How are you doing with your goals?
Here's what I posted back in November: 1- Ride Switch at will 2- Ride moguls at something more than a crawl 3- swap in and out of switch at speed 4- Do some basic 180s 5- be able to handle at least small ramps 6- be able to go off-piste without cratering 7- 50/50 a box -- even a small one. I've done or have made good progress on 1,5,6,7. Working on 3. I'll probably do 4 next time out. There aren't enough moguls on Seymour to work on 2. But all in all, I'm pretty happy so far with my progress.

I'm on the east coast and the park has been ice ice baby, so park progression has been minimal except this barrel at my usual mountain... though I hurt my knee on it falling on ice, I've been doing bonk spins like crazy on it. Too hazardous to do big spins on the jumps though...
All mountain hits have been prime though... surprised at the amount of real powder I've seen especially in the past few days after the huge storm that swept the east... spins into powder butters, 3's off of small a-m hits, etc. Really digging all-mountain stuff so far... |

I got checked off for my riding skills, so this weekend it's on to sled training. It took me a couple days to fine tune my slow speed maneuvers. I'd never done a falling leaf lol, I am comfortable hauling ass, but was pretty sketchy at slow speeds. I'm now pretty comfortable at the lower speeds required to handle a sled. Should be interesting with a 50lb sled behind me, much less a loaded one. I want to put some steeze in my ground game, and if they ever get enough snow to open the park I'll step up to bigger jumps and hit some boxes.

By the time I got the rust off the gears, I injured myself and still am not confident enough that my shoulder won't reinjure to go back out
![]() But in the 3 days I did get before I wrecked myself, I made some good progress with ollies. I'm usually hunting down powder too hard to even bother with them

I shadowed a guy hittin 45 who I rode a lot with last season. He's been riding since 1990 and kills it on the hill. well one of his buddies came out on the mountain one day.. also been riding since 1990 only he had a HUGE beer gut and was out of breath most the day. Admitted he lost interest in snowboarding when he started sledding and became fat. So don't be that guy. ![]() Edit: Not saying you can't get fat... by all means.

I'm getting there.
I learned switch. My jumps are not even close but I hit the biggest park jump I have even hit. Safely landed, not pretty need a lot of technical work but getting there. and I rode my 1st rail the other day. It's coming, I just spent the last 3 days straight at the hill. I needed today to recoup. Back at it tomorrow. -Slyder |
