I joined Snowolf's "landed on me head" club

So last night I was in the park and decided to check out a jib barrel. Well I tried to ball at the last minute and swerve left, but no dice. The tip of my board hit the barrel and I did half a frontflip. Was floating in the air and just went "Oh shit", next thing I knew I heard/felt my head crack against the ice. Sat there for a few seconds then took my board off and just kind of staggered over the the side. Sat there for a while and took my gloves and headgear (no brainbucket of course ). Then I got sick of the jackasses on the lift making comments so I strapped in (noticing my front bindings angle changed drastically) and just kind of skidded down the side of the hill and went into ski patrol to get checked out.

The moral of the story is: Learn to bail out faster .

ETA: After I got home I was freaked out about my board and checked it out. It seems fine, but the binding angle had changed from 15 degrees to 42 degrees! And that was after I tightened them as much as I could before going up.

I think the moral of the story should be to get a proper lid!

Have you guys noticed that you hit your head a lot more AFTER you got your helmet... than before?

weird.

oh yeah... if you do get a helmet...theres a strap on the bottom to strap it to your head... use it... not many do...its there for a reason... to hold your helmet on...

Probably not going to get a bucket. Just going to avoid barrels from now on. I might get one if I start doing more stuff (including that damned barrel lol).

There are few mmorals to this story.

(1) Helmet.
(2) Have gun ready for people on lift. Be a good aim.
(3) Your board WANTS a 42 angle!

I'll echo.

I started rocking a helmet, for the first time, 2 weeks ago. Ohter day, I had just gotten on the lift. Moi, and 3 skiers. They didn't put the bar down, so I didn't bother with it either. Then, like 60 seconds later, one of them just like SLAMS the bar down! No announcemt. No warning. No nuthin! My head was cocked to side a bit, the side of the bar hit me SQUARE in the head. WTF!? First, if didn't have the helemt, I would have not been feeling too hot. Second, who ARE those people?! What the hell were they thinking? Last, how do I ride for 20-years, and never end up with a freak head accident on the lift (of all places) until AFTER I got a helmet?

I have rarely ever witnessed anyone putting down the bar.

It's the same thing as buying a radar detector... I drove for 3 years without a speeding ticket and 3 days after I buy the "top of the line" radar detector I get got....
