I ride half my season at a rinky dink hill called Perfect North. A large percentage of people skiing and riding here have no clue as to what etiquette for the sport is, much less be able to pronounce the word.
This place also has an abnormally high amount of human beings known as "SPOREs" aka Stupid People On Rental Equipment. And no, I am not saying all people on rental gear are SPOREs, just ones that are clueless. SPORES are typically easy to spot...stink bug stance, legs wide apart, jacket unzipped, ski poles pointed straight up in the air. SPORES can also easily be found in their favorite habitat...around colonies of other SPORES, which is generally a more advanced slope that they should not be on in the first place. SPOREs like to bomb runs with reckless abandon with little regard to the safety of others. Anyways, I have digressed...let me get to my point initially... What I find annoying is when you are waiting in line and you constantly feel that "bump" against the back of your board as some SPORE continues to run into your deck every time the line advances forward. Once or twice is forgiveable, but more than that is annoying. It is real easy, just leave space between you and the next person...we're all trying to get to the same place! Thanks for letting me vent. Andy Last edited by Krug; 02-07-2011 at 04:59 PM. |

I totally agree. Renters are awful. I hate those kids who smack your board in the lift line. Last time out I saw a kid skiing in jeans, with safety glasses and leather work gloves, he looked like just finished a roofing job.

...wow you don't sound like a superficial asshole right now, some people don't have the money to throw down on gear.
Either way, I rented skis the other day, I unzipped my jacket because I was hot as fuck because that shit takes it out of you... only valid point was that people bumping boards without apologizing is an ass move especially when you realize they didn't actually buy the shit they are ruining yours with.. but most of it is pretentious... suck it up unless you plan on beating the piss out of every noob on the hill which will leave you for no time for boarding or skiing.. and just sort of accept that without those 'noobs' a new board would probably run you an estimated 2-300 dollars more than it does now. edit: my counter attack was on grinsk... I might start wearing safety glasses on the hill now because of this.

Unzipped jacket and rental gear alone wouldn't make you a SPORE necessarily. Check my post...there are other defining characteristics..that is unless you were out of control risking the safety of others in a stinkbug stance position! Best regards, Pretentious Asshole aka Krug

To blind kink's point, there are just as many stupid people on rental equipment as there are people that spend $1000+ on new gear and have no clue what they are doing.
Perfect example, a not so close friend of mine went boarding with a bunch of us yesterday for the first time and already is looking at buying c60's and a custom x cause they look cool. I bet he will be bumping you on the lift line just as much as anyone on rental equipment. Snip form texts today: -I liked the c60 EST, are they good? Me- your a long way's from knowing what you like and don't like -but they have good reviews Me-its not just about good reviews, you need to try it at least a couple more times before buying all your gear -so whats a good brand? So yea its not about the rental equipment, although thats a nice acronym. Last edited by ecks; 02-07-2011 at 05:57 PM. |

I think you took my post out of context there bud. By renters being awful I meant the people who don't have any respect for equipment simply because it isn't theirs (which you yourself validated). But like it was said, anyone can really bump you. It's just renters more often than not that don't care that they did. I could careless about noobs on the hill because I know how to snowboard and I can avoid them. As for the safety glasses, go nuts. I thought that kid looked hilarious, so all the more reason for me to laugh at you. |

relax.. I'm just in a trolly mood, but in all reality... people dress that way on my ant hill all the time and more often than not they rip.... but they probably just got done roofing a house
![]() and I was calling grinsk a pretentious asshole, overall I generally like this thread, just not hating on the common working man, you big jerk you.
