Fuckin' weatherman.................instead of gettin' the forecast close....they missed it again! Instead of a dusting, we got an unexpected 6 inches! I'll take it! Made for a sweet sunday at the hill with the family. I'm just used to being on the olly end of the spectrum.....you know....forecast snow, then you get skunked. Nice change of pace!

Yup...our weatherman has been rather ridiclous.
Baker has been in a significant storm cycle these past two weeks with over 10 FEET OF SNOW falling in the past 14 days and nearly 5 feet of that in just the past few days. There are a series of strong frontal systems forecasted to head our way through this coming Wednesday with a particularly strong system expected to roll into the region on Sunday bringing increasingly strong winds, warming temperatures and warm frontal rain. DUE TO THE UNUSUAL CIRCUMSTANCES of forecasted warming temperatures and rain combined with the tremendous about of new snowfall we have received, Mt. Baker will be TEMPORARILY CLOSED ON SUNDAY to allow for snow stabilization while this warm front moves over us; we plan to be BACK IN OPERATION MONDAY at 9:00am. Freezing levels are expected to drop back down to 2,000 feet for Monday with another foot or more of snow expected during Sunday night on into Monday and moderate to significant snowfall expected through Wednesday. Varying freezing levels are expected through the week as the series of fronts moves from the Gulf of Alaska through our area. Today: Snow showers. High near 18. Windy, with a south southwest wind between 25 and 33 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches possible. Tonight: Snow. Low around 14. Breezy, with a south wind between 17 and 22 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible. Tuesday: Snow. High near 21. Windy, with a south wind between 25 and 34 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 10 to 16 inches possible. Tuesday Night: Snow. Low around 11. Breezy, with a south southwest wind between 23 and 26 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 11 to 17 inches possible. Wednesday: Snow showers. High near 16. Breezy, with a southwest wind between 18 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches possible. Wednesday Night: Snow showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 10. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible. Monday March 14th at 5:11 am 29 °F Snowing 12 inches new 16 inches in 24 hours Base at Heather Meadows: 234 inches Base at Pan Dome: 267 inches

Forecasting in CO is always a crapshoot, but this year has been ridiculously bad.
